Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
''Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition'' is a remake of the Black Isle Studios role-playing game ''Icewind Dale'' and its expansions ''Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter'' and ''Trials of the Luremaster''. The game was launched on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition was officially announced to feature new content, widescreen compatibility, and will continue to use 2nd Edition D&D rules. Developed by Overhaul Games, a division of Beamdog, the game was published by Atari. Developed through use of an updated Infinity Engine, referred to as either the ''Infinity Enhanced Engine'', ''Infinity Plus Engine'' or the ''Infinity Bless Engine'', the remake was released in 2014.〔 On October 30, 2014, the Enhanced Edition was released to the Beamdog client, Steam and Good Old Games.
==Gameplay==
For all editions, the game features 2nd Edition ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' licensed by Wizards of the Coast. The game allows for an updated multiplayer feature, including cross platform, letting players play together regardless of the platform they played on. Much like ''Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition'', ''Icewind Dale'' features a revamped user interface and a new renderer. To enhance gameplay several different viewing modes are available, as well as touch commands for mobile editions. The game is updated to allow for sixty new items. The enhancements also include thirty class/kit combinations and the playable blackguard class, a feature first presented in ''Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition''. Due to the intense difficulty presented in the original game, Overhaul created new difficulty settings to make the game more approachable for new players. Due to the player driven nature of the original ''Icewind Dale'', Overhaul refused to add in new characters or story expansions, but did recreate six adventures that were cut from the original ''Icewind Dale''.
